Root canal treatment

Endodontics

Root canal treatment has one mission — to save teeth. The time when tooth extraction was the only solution for pain is long gone. In its place emerged a discipline that achieves exceptionally high success in this mission. That discipline is endodontics, the branch of dentistry devoted entirely to root canal treatment.
This practice began at the very foundation of PZU VITA DENT, and today it is modernized and sophisticated. We are proud to serve our patients with the most noble mission – SAVE THE TOOTH.

What is that?

As the name suggests, root canal treatment penetrates deep into the tooth to remove infected pulp—the nerve of the tooth.

This infection can have a variety of causative agents.

Here are the most common ones:

How is it performed?

An experienced and well-trained doctor can determine the need for root canal treatment, identify the causes, and perform the correct procedures. These can be done over several visits. The time between visits is needed for the doctor to monitor the results.
Root canal treatment is often challenging because it is individualized for each patient depending on the severity of the inflammation. The type, shape, and depth of the root canals are also strictly individual.
But, in general, root canal treatment takes place in the following steps:

1. The patient is given local anesthesia to make the procedure painless.

2. The tooth to be treated is isolated with a special latex cloth, which tightly surrounds it and prevents the penetration of bacteria during the manipulation.

3. The root canal treatment begins. For this purpose, their depth is first measured with a special device. An x-ray is also taken at the scene beforehand.

4. Under high magnification, the inflamed pulp is removed and the canals are precisely cleaned from the infected tissue. This is performed using high-tech equipment that eliminates the risk of errors compared to manual processing.

5. Disinfection follows with special bactericidal agents to eliminate the risk of reinfection.

6. The pulp chamber and canals are filled and sealed with a special high-quality paste.

7. The tooth is restored with a filling or - if necessary - with a crown.

It is important to know that endodontic treatment has no alternative. However, if the tooth is completely destroyed or its roots are damaged, for example as a result of trauma or an improperly placed old filling, the treatment is pointless. In that case, the tooth requires extraction. And even then, there is a solution - at “VITA DENT” you can replace missing teeth with dental implants, which represent an irreplaceable alternative to natural teeth - both functionally and aesthetically.

Therefore, trust in VITA DENT

Neglecting the need for proper endodontic treatment at the right place can come at a very high cost for the patient. That is why it is of utmost importance that the patient is placed in the hands of an experienced doctor prepared for all stages of the procedure. Prepared with knowledge and skills, as well as impeccable, precise, and advanced equipment for diagnosis and treatment. At VITA DENT, we have the very best!
